HOW TO MAKE HEALTH AND FITNESS YOUR LIFESTYLE

With the start of this new year, many of us have taken a pledge to improve our health and fitness. While keeping specific health and fitness goals is excellent, people often go to extremes to accomplish these goals. They try the latest fad diet or workout trend and often exhaust both their mental and physical energy.

This is usually caused by either giving up completely or being unable to reach and maintain these goals, ultimately resulting in burns, failure, or injury. Because of this, I propose that you lose extreme unrealistic goals and aim to change your lifestyle.

When you start seeing health and fitness as a lifestyle rather than a part-time hobby or 30-day challenge, you develop behaviors that will improve in many areas of your life.

Living a healthy lifestyle can inspire creativity and teach you discipline, adaptability, and balance. This will not only leave you looking and feeling better, but you will show yourself as a better version of yourself to the people in your life that really matter.

IT’S MORE THAN AESTHETICS

Health and fitness are more than the way you see the food you eat, or the weight you lift in the gym. They are about:

  • The way you feel.
  • Quality of your life.
  • You have a focus on work.
  • Your ability to move.
  • Your psychological state.

When you are really healthy, you are in a better mood and can do more physically. You can do things like walking your dog, hiking, or paddleboarding. Not being able to do these things can greatly affect your experiences and limit your quality of life.

SETTING AN EXAMPLE

When you made your decision to live a healthy lifestyle, you not only do you a favor, but you set an excellent example for all of them around you. Your friends, family, and children are affected by wellness, You will feel inspired to make choices and often change your lives.

If you don’t have a gym for a week, you are used to it traveling with your resistance band, making bodyweight circuits, or using to exercise on the nearby benches and steps when your routine stops, self-destruction happens.

CONSISTENCY

Sure, people get results with extreme dieting or participating in workout challenges. However, the percentage of people who follow those plans is absolutely small. These challenges are often met in a short period of time with strict guidelines for both duration and success and failure which are not good for your physical or emotional health.

When you set extreme goals, you are more likely to feel defeated if you “mess up.” When expectations are not so intense, you are more likely to be persistent and enjoy your journey. You don’t put the pressure to be right on yourself. If you eat something “bad” or skip one workout, you wake up the next day and get back on track because now it is just a part of your lifestyle. This approach is highly attainable and leads to more long term stability.

Here are a few tips and tricks to start making your lifestyle healthy and fit today:

1. Enjoy Your Exercise

This is very crucial when it comes to staying consistent with your exercises. If you are constantly practicing you do not enjoy, and they are making you feel physically and emotionally drained, it is only going to last so long. You are better off finding exercises that make you feel good, and you can stay longer even if it is not the most intense. Continuous low-intensity exercise will always prevail over high-intensity exercise.

2. BE PATIENT WHEN IT COMES TO REACHING YOUR PHYSICAL GOALS

Remember, the results will take time. Be patient and easy on yourself nothing good comes that easy. Learn to fall in love with the process and the person you become during the entire journey.

3. Do not skip the foods you love

I firmly believe in never skip food you love. Find a way to make your favorite foods healthy. If pizza is your favorite food, don’t skip it. You will feel deprived of it. Get used to eating less of it and creating creative and healthy versions of yourself.

4. Do not compare with anyone

This is your life and your journey. No two people are the same, so you should never compare yourself to others. Unless you get up every day and try to be better than yesterday, you’re on the right way.

5. Start new things

Step outside your comfort zone. Try a fitness class with a friend and taste various foods. Grocery shopping is an easy way to experiment with different foods and expose yourself to a wide variety of fruits and vegetables depending on what the weather is. Getting out of your comfort zone and changing things will keep things interesting and help you stay motivated and motivated to live a sustainable lifestyle.
